May 22, 2010----- All these greedy, egotistical, and pompous athletes who think they are worth hundreds of millions of dollars to play a sport as their job while the rest of American society is forced to work real jobs. As a fan myself I can understand the general passion and intensity fans have in following their favorite sports and their favorite players and how that can affect an increase in the market for players. But where do we draw the line? I'm sick and tired of tuning in to watch sports center in the morning and seeing all this news about another athlete holding out to get 15 million dollars a year instead of 12 million. To me, that is a direct slap in the face to any fan who has to go work a 9 to 5 job making minimum wage or barely more just so they can save up for a ticket to see this guy play. When are these athletes going to wake up and realize they live in a fantasy world that the rest of us only wish we could be in? But that isn't enough for them. Instead of who knows, maybe putting some of this money towards charities (or even further out on a limb, the insane national debt problem), we'll just toss piles of money away to unappreciative and pretentious people just because they can hit a ball or make a jump shot. It really scares me to think of how much further this is going to go. Will it get to the point where guys are making 5 million dollars a year minimum just to sit the bench? Or maybe we might even see a 10 year contract for about 500 million dollars. I wouldn't bet against it the way people are now a days.Wouldn't it be great to make nearly $111 million a year simply to play a game?.
Take education, for instance. Teaching is one of the most economically important occupations if you really think about it.
And teachers aren't the only ones deserving of higher wages. Police officers, firefighters, and doctors throughout the country both risk their lives and save the lives of others for a fraction of what many sports stars make..
Those in the military leave their families at home for months at a time to defend and protect our country's freedoms, knowing they may never return, and all for a pittance compared to what even many scrubs in the NBA make.
Is that actually worth the price we pay them?.
In order for these high-priced athletes to gain more respect, they will need to have a more significant impact on their communities..
Now, of course the owners themselves are partially to blame, as they just keep on spending and spending, but something must be done..
When asking people whether they think athletes are paid way too much money, most agree with me.
Do you?
Wouldn't it be great to make nearly $111 million a year simply to play a game?.
I believe a person should be paid according to the job's economic importance and value to society..
That is simply outrageous.

Don't mistake what I'm saying for some sense that these athletes have had it easy getting where they are, either. I fully understand that making it to the pros isn't an easy thing to accomplish. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication and talent on the part of the athlete, not to mention an incredible number of hours of hard work every day just to earn the privilege..
I believe it's not, and that at the very least, that if these athletes want to continue to reap the rewards of their fame, they must begin to prove they can be positive role models for both future athletes to follow, and the children who grow up admiring and practically worshipping them
.
Simply put, if Alex Rodriguez (or any athlete) believes he deserves to make as much money each year as he does, then he must also recognize that he should be allowed to cheat and take steroids. This is because if we, as a society allow that, then what we're teaching our children is that it's okay to use illegal substances such as steroids, because in the long run it will pay off.
Simply put, JaMarcus Russell for instance. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft did nothing for the Raiders whatsoever, and is walking away a multi-millionaire..

Who is Dorsey Savage or Laurel Dempsey ? You may know his work through many of his psuedo names used on Reality Check,San Diego Daily Aztec, and Provost Prose,. His Alma Mater is UC Berkley and he is on a mission to stop NCAA from destroying the minds of students and is irked by the abuse of
Frank Cuenca. and the Duke Strippers, and Chuck Neinas' . The recommendations of Chuck Neinas' at, Miami, and Randy Shannon was bad enough. Then San Diego State and Frank Cuenca from
Monarch Retirement. caused interest on his SDSU Blog. When the SD State Recuiter bilked San Diego State out of $30,000 for his contribution in the hiring of Chuck Long as football coach in 2005, and then when Chuck Long was employed he and
Frank Cuenca. immediately then hired more jocksniffers. Conflict? YES ! This is when the blogging mission began .
